Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to 'go separate ways' during Australia trip

As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle prepare for their highly anticipated return to Australia in mid-April 2026, new details suggest the couple will indeed be "going separate ways"—not in their relationship, but in their professional itineraries.

While the trip is a joint venture, their schedules in Sydney and Melbourne are designed to showcase their individual brands and philanthropic priorities.

The "Separate Ways" Itinerary

For the first time since their 2018 royal tour, the Sussexes are dividing and conquering to cover more ground as private citizens.

  • Meghan’s "Girls' Weekend": The Duchess is set to headline a luxury wellness retreat in Sydney from April 17–19. Hosted by the Her Best Life podcast at the InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach, the event is being billed as "a girls' weekend like no other." Meghan will lead an "in-person conversation" on women's empowerment, mental health, and resilience, culminating in a glamorous gala dinner.

  • Harry’s "Psychological Safety" Summit: While Meghan is in Sydney, the Duke will be in Melbourne on April 15–16.   He is scheduled as a keynote speaker for the InterEdge Psychosocial Safety Summit, where he will join mental health experts to discuss workplace burnout and the importance of psychological safety.

Business vs. Philanthropy

The trip isn't just about speaking engagements; it’s a strategic move for their independent ventures:

  1. Global Expansion: Meghan is reportedly using the trip to scout the Australian market for her lifestyle brand, As Ever, following her recent split from Netflix’s investment partnership.

  2. Military Ties: Harry is expected to reunite with the Australian Defence Force, continuing the work he began during his 2015 secondment in Darwin and his ongoing commitment to the Invictus Games.

  3. The "Sussex Strategy": Experts are calling this "separate ways" approach a "new strategy" to establish them as individual power players while maintaining a united front for high-profile joint appearances.

The Contrast of 2026

The 2026 visit stands in sharp contrast to their 2018 tour.

A "Solo" Preparation

Meghan has already begun her "charity warmup" for the trip. On Thursday, March 12, she made a surprise solo visit to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.   Participating in the "Make March Matter" campaign, she led a watercolor painting session for young patients—a move seen by many as a clear signal of the "hands-on" humanitarian style she plans to bring to Australia.
