Princess of Wales Issues Statement Honoring Service Personnel

The Princess of Wales, serving as Commodore-in-Chief of the Fleet Air Arm, has released a joint message with Prince William following an incident involving an aircraft in Devon.

On Wednesday, official channels from Kensington Palace shared a personal note from Princess Catherine. The statement addressed a severe training accident involving a Royal Navy helicopter that occurred during the early hours of June 3.

The Ministry of Defence confirmed that three service personnel lost their lives when the Merlin Mk4 aircraft went down near Sourton. Emergency services responded to the scene immediately, and a formal investigation into the circumstances is currently underway.

In her personal statement, signed with her initial "C," the Princess expressed her deep sadness regarding the event.

"I was so saddened to hear of the loss of three service personnel from the Fleet Air Arm following a training exercise last night," the statement read. "William and I hold their families and friends in our hearts at this very difficult time."

The royal couple, along with King Charles, are expected to extend private communications and support to the affected families in the coming days.
